D.C. Earmark For Contributor

CBS News recently reported that Mary Landrieu placed an earmark in legislation for a specific company to provide a program for the Washington, D.C. school system. Landrieu has received about $80,000 in campaign contributions from employees and lobbyists of the company that received the $2 million earmark.

Jack Abramoff-Connected Contributions

Mary Landrieu took $32,000 in campaign contributions from associates of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, including Indian tribes seeking to block the construction of casinos in Louisiana, who were clients of Abramoff. Jack Abramoff is serving time in federal prison for three felony counts of conspiracy, fraud and tax evasion primarily related to his lobbying work for the Indians.

Tax Increase

Mary Landrieu voted for the Fiscal 2008 budget plan that would provide for the largest tax increase in U.S. history. This would increase taxes a projected $2.7 trillion over the next ten years which would increase taxes more than $2,000 for the average American household.

Social Security And Illegal Immigrants

In the U.S. Senate, Mary Landrieu voted to kill legislation that would have prevented immigrants from collecting Social Security for work done illegally.

Campaign Fundraising

Mary Landrieu voted to stop political parties from raising unlimited amounts of cash from unions, corporations and wealthy donors, but then just ten days later formed a new fundraising committee to raise soft money, the very thing she voted against.
